Restless

How often does life seem to be full of activities and other events? How often do these things seem to dominate our lives? Despite all of the hustle and bustle in life, we very often still feel restless, restless in the sense that something is still missing. All of the things I have still leave me wanting more. How often does life provide for us, yet we are still wanting more. Even with a thousand different things going on in life, we still want more, we still want to do more things. Being involved certainly isn't bad. Living life is very important. But when energy is not devoted to the proper place, than problems can arise. Despite all that is going on in life, something can still fee like it is lacking.
Imagine a race in which we are perpetually stuck at the starting line. We can know someone is going to say we can race soon, but we don't know when, and we've been waiting for quite awhile. We're done training and all we want to do is race. How often does life seem like this? We have what we want, yet we still want more. Restlessness sets in. Granted, waiting at the starting line doesn't allow for much, but we don't have to be so enthralled in the race. Concentrating on the present can lead to a lot more, than concentrating on where the race will take us.

  1. And the older you get, the more aware you get of how much more there is to do. BUT, like you say, sometime you have to learn to enjoy what you have, look at where your choices have led you. Pause and then continue to move on with a clearer view of what beneficial choices you've made. Not long after you wrote this you got to live it, at the airport, the starting line for your trip. But the starting was delayed. Premonition? D
