Relationship

Remember that despite all of our work,

--Nothing worth doing is completed in our lifetime; so, we live in hope.

--Nothing true or beautiful or good makes complete sense in any immediate context of history; so, we live in faith.

--Nothing we do, however virtuous, can be accomplished alone; so, we live in love.

I love this quote! Being a senior, I realize how soon my time will be done here. But this quote reminds me that my time here actually meant something. Every relationship I've entered into has shaped me. Every relationship has offered me an opportunity to grow and learn. I am just now beginning to understand what it means to be present in a relationship though. It is not enough to simply call someone friend. Relationships, like life, take work. I have met so many fantastic friends in college. This quote explains each of them wonderfully. Each friendship has deepened my faith. Each has taught me a different aspect of what it means to love. And each offers me hope that, though life is hard, it has so many beautiful aspects. How often do I miss these opportunities? How often do I take advantage of time spent with those I care about? I've realized that its not how much time I spend with others, but how I spend time with others. How to really be present with others, that is what makes relationships hard. But that is why life is so amazing. The parts that are hard matter the most. How often we seem to forget that.
