Questions
I have been thinking recently about what a person at my JVC Northwest orientation said. He told us that he rarely wrote recommendation letters for students going on to graduate programs unless they took some time off after graduation. At first I though this strange, but he went on to add, that in taking time off, a person has the opportunity to discover himself or herself. He or she learns what questions are really important, and what problems in the world really need to be tackled. I have some inclination as to what the person meant. Without exploring one cannot truly understand himself or herself, and if a person does not know himself or herself, what are the chances of the person understanding or knowing the world. Finding one's place in the world starts with seeing oneself in the world. But, that is unfortunately no easy feat.
