Peace

As Lent draws to a close I have been thinking more about the concept of Peace. Not necessarily peace as the opposite of war, but peace in the sense of Shalom, a Hebrew term. It does in some sense mean "peace," but peace as the opposite of chaos. One of my professors offers this at the end of every class. He has described it as the hope that all the pieces of one's life may fit together. Thus then, Shalom to all who read this. May all the pieces of your life come together. Chaos; an absence of all order. What better way to live than opposite of chaos.
Life can be so hectic, but what about a peace-filled life? What if the peaces of our lives came together. Not just every question receiving an answer, but every point that appears to be chaotic receiving a new image. An image not of being tossed on the oceans, but of merely being a sign post on the journey that is life. Chaos is frightening, no doubt about that. But isn't peace so much more preferable? What if every question, every earth shattering challenge was simply that, a challenge? A challenge to envision life in a new way. The Journey is not meant to be easy, but it is also not meant to be chaotic. So I wish you all Shalom. May all the pieces of your life come together.
